Anyone in Tilburg in the south of the Netherlands must beware. The authorities are warning that a two meter long green mamba – extremely poisonous – has escaped.
The municipality urges the public to be careful and not to approach the snake if you see it.
It escaped on Monday evening and was still at large a day later. Both snake experts and police dogs are being used in the hunt for the snake, which is believed to be hiding in a dark and warm area.
Local hospitals have been informed so they can intervene quickly, should anyone be bitten. But at the same time, the authorities are reassuring those living nearby that the snake is probably passive and not aggressive.
