Charlotte Baris: As summer approaches, you may already be planning your vacation and like 1.8 million French people in 2022, Greece is catching your eye. Visiting the Parthenon on the Acropolis, tasting pita bread and moussaka, sunsets on a rocky island in the Aegean Sea… I bet this postcard already makes you want it.
If I talk to you about the economy Greek on the other hand, I am sure that the image that comes to mind is much less heavenly. It rather reminds you of huge demonstrations in the heart of the historic capital, repeated sermons from politicians in Brussels and, in the mouths of Greek officials, ever more bitter announcements… Only one promise: rigor and austerity . For more than 10 years, Greece has been the sick man of the European Union, but it appears that drastic reforms are starting to bear fruit. Today, Athens is recovering, but at what cost for its citizens? This is the question we ask La Loupe in this episode.
