Journalist Antti Kurra summarizes in a video what is known about wildfires in Greece.
Greece is suffering from wildfires for the second week already.
The islands of Rhodes and Corfu, which are also popular with Finnish vacationers, have been particularly affected by the fires. Thousands of people have been evacuated from the path of the fires on the islands.
See the editor below Antti Kurran a short video of what the Rhodes wildfires are all about.
Hot and windy weather makes rescue and extinguishing work difficult. On Tuesday, July 25, one of the planes that was fighting fires fell to the ground in Karystos.
Despite the wildfires, Finns still travel to Rhodes.
Some travelers have been offered the opportunity to change their holiday destination. Some still go on vacation because the change would have been expensive and inconvenient.
Wildfires are raging more widely in the Mediterranean. In addition to Greece, there are fires at least in Italy, on the island of Sicily, in Croatia and in areas of North Africa.
