It’s the TV brawl no one will forget.
But now comes an unexpected tribute after Bojan Djordjic and Jannes Andersson’s quarrel in Viaplay.
– All respect to Fredrik Ljungberg who handled it so damn well, says presenter Niklas Jihde in the “Sporthuset” podcast.
It has been over a month since the national team captain Jan Andersson and the TV expert Bojan Djordjic broke down in the most talked about brawl in Swedish televised sports history. A real mess that no one will forget for a very long time.
Paying tribute to Ljungberg
After Sweden defeated Azerbaijan 5-0 in the EC qualifying match, Andersson visited Viaplay’s studio and was initially in a good mood. But it would then turn quickly when Djordjic came up with a critical question about why not Jesper Karlsson got more playing time.
Emotions overflowed and the presenter stood by Niklas Jihde and the expert colleagues Fredrik Ljungberg and Sebastian Larsson shut up. Several weeks later, Jihde now opens up about the controversial incident and reveals Ljungberg’s decisive actions that he wants to pay tribute to.
– When we who were involved and worked gathered in a room immediately afterwards, Fredrik Ljungberg showed what a leader he is. He gathered everyone immediately. He knew what awaited and that there would be 30 journalists standing and waiting: “We are going out in a joint squad now and the only thing we are saying is that we back Bojan one hundred percent, because everyone is on board.” It was crystal clear what we were going to do, says Niklas Jihde in the podcast Sporthuset, which is run by the TV profiles Lasse Granqvist and Tommy Åström.

Jihde admits
The Viaplay presenter continues to highlight Ljungberg’s beautiful acting and how he stepped forward for Bojan Djordjic.
– He took Bojan to the hotel where he himself was to sleep. He didn’t want Bojan to be alone that night. He took him there and they sat and talked for several, several hours until Bojan went home. It shows what a leader he is, he knew exactly how to handle situations like this. Although we have worked with the media for a long time and played at a certain level, this was a completely different matter, Jihde tells the podcast.

Niklas Jihde has received criticism because he did not act more as a presenter during the TV row and that he should have stepped in when it heated up the most. Now he addresses that criticism against him.
– I saw something that I had never seen before. Janne Andersson flinched and there was something in his eyes, much like when I got mad at my older brothers when I was younger. It was almost impossible to explain what happened in the minutes that followed. I’m pretty sure that Janne Andersson would say that he had a blackout and couldn’t tell what happened next, he admits in the podcast interview.
