Great Swedish success! Anna Magnusson roared with top position in the sprint – when it became a fiasco for Öbergs

There was talk of Hanna and Elvira Öberg.
But instead it was Anna Magnusson who became the best Swede.
The 28-year-old took a nice one

There has been a lot of illness among the Swedish biathletes during the Christmas break. On the women’s side, both have Hanna Öberg and Lynn Persson affected. The form of several of the riders was therefore uncertain before today’s sprint.

Magnusson impressed

And it turned out that the big stars are not in top shape. Hanna Öberg missed 2+2 and Elvira Öberg 1+1. Hanna finished outside the top 40(!) and Elvira did not reach the top ten. Lynn Persson had better shooting (0+1) but couldn’t really keep up, and ended up outside the top 15.

On the other hand, it screamed Anna Magnusson really and took an impressive fourth place! The 28-year-old fired hard, and was just seconds away from the third individual podium of his career.
– It still feels great. I was really completely dead the last bit here, so I knew well that I lost the podium there at the end, says Magnusson in SVT’s broadcast.

Good Brother

Anna Magnusson has previously come first and third in the World Cup, both times in sprints, in 2022 and 2023. Today was her third best race in her career.
– It means a lot. I’ve felt this season has been good but that I didn’t quite get it. So it feels fun, says Anna to SVT.

Also Mona Brorsson impressed with a stable race, despite 1+1. She is currently 12th.
– I am really pleased. It’s a good race, but you always want more, says Mona Brorsson.
