Suspected covid in the Swedish EC squad.
The stars do not deny that there is fear before the quarterfinals.
– Quite honestly, I am quite worried, says Fridolina Rolfö to SVT.
Sweden has had a brilliant start to this year’s European Championships and has planned to reach the quarterfinals. After convincing in the last group game against Portugal, they also won the group, which means that they do not have to face one of the gold favorites France.
Great concern
Instead, it will be on paper much easier resistance in the form of Belgium. But before the quarter-finals, which are played on Friday night, there is concern in the Swedish squad. On Monday, it was announced that there are three suspected covid cases in the Swedish squad.
One of the three positively tested has symptoms, but at the same time has not yet been PCR tested. The answer is expected before midnight, but it is clear that the Swedish players are worried.
– Honestly, I’m pretty worried. Neither I nor my teammates want it. It is worrying that we got the infection, at the same time we do everything we can to keep it away and for it to stay among the people who have been infected, Rolfö tells SVT.
“Knew it could happen”
It has not yet been announced who has been infected, but Magdalena Eriksson has been in contact with those affected.
– We knew it could happen, other teams have happened. Now it’s just a matter of making the best of this situation.
The national team has announced that players who have no symptoms will also not be tested during the tournament.
– I trust the medical team, that we do what is right, says Amanda Ilestedt.
