4 out of 10 Swedes want Magdalena Andersson as prime minister this autumn, according to a recent Sifo survey conducted on behalf of TV4 Nyheterna.
4 years ago, 21% of Swedish voters wanted to see Stefan Löfven as Prime Minister after the election, now the support for his successor, Magdalena Andersson, is as much as 40%.
– Now there is a distinctly more popular prime ministerial candidate and it is of course an advantage for the Social Democrats who now see a Magdalena Andersson effect, says political science professor Peter Esaiasson.
Who you want to see as prime minister, however, differs greatly between the sexes. Almost was another woman, 46% prefer Magdalena Andersson while that figure is down to 34% among men.
Her main opponent, Ulf Kristersson, is the favorite of 26% of men but only of 18% of women.
If you look at the regions, the support for Magdalena Andersson is greatest in northern Sweden, 57%, while Ulf Kristersson has the most supporters in southern and western Sweden, 26%.
