Set Saturday’s mountain trip if you are not properly mountainous, warns SMHI which issued a yellow warning of wind in combination with snowfall on the calf mountain.

At present, there is also a great risk of avalanches in the mountain world.

SMHI’s yellow warning – the lowest on the three -degree scale – includes southern and central Lapland mountains, as well as northern Jämtlandsfjällen. The warning of hard to very strong wind combined with snowfall is valid until 6pm on Saturday.

In addition, the avalanche danger is large – a four on the five -degree scale – in western Vindelfjällen due to significant amounts of fresh snow, large amounts of older loose snow and harsh winds, according to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s site Lavin forecasts.

Drive snow is expected to be very sensitive in many places and settles on an already weak snow cover around the tree line. Ending flakes also cause avalanche problems.

Avaria is considered to be large enough to break trees and have the power to destroy a car.

In southern Lapland mountains, the avalanche danger is considered to be significant, a third on the scale.

“A person’s load is judged to be sufficient to start large avalanches.” it says on the site.

In the other four mountain areas that are covered by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s site, there is moderate danger.

The warnings of avalanche danger are currently valid until Saturday at 18.00.

The avalanche danger is divided into a five -degree scale:

1. Little danger. Conditions are secure in general. The snow can be unstable in individual places. Avalanches unlikely.

2. Moderate danger. Dangerous conditions in parts of the terrain. It is possible for people to trigger avalanches, but spontaneous avalanches are unlikely.

3. Significant danger. Dangerous conditions. It is likely that people trigger avalanches and spontaneous avalanches are possible.

4. Great danger. Very dangerous conditions. Very likely with spontaneous avalanches and people triggering avalanches.

5. Very great danger. Human triggered and spontaneous avalanches occur with certainty.
