High jumper Melwin Lycke Holm has been selected in the Swedish squad for the European Athletics Championships in Rome, June 7–12. Lycke Holm, son of former Olympic gold medalist Stefan Holm, is one of around 60 blue and yellow actives who will compete at the Olympic Stadium in the Italian capital.
With the squad, as the national team captain Kajsa Bergqvist presented on Friday, there are of course also the biggest stars Armand Duplantis (rod) and Daniel Ståhl (discus).
Also the long jumper Khaddi Sagnawho has been pulled with injuries and sat out the indoor season, is selected for the EC.

The goal is to make Sweden’s best EC ever, which means you have to top the home championship in Gothenburg 2006. Then there were three golds, one silver, two bronzes and several other advanced placements.
“It won’t be easy to scratch, but that’s what we’re aiming for. It is a tough goal, but not at all impossible. That’s how good Swedish athletics are right now and it feels really cool,” says Bergqvist in a statement.
