Great Lakes Secondary School presents Revue 2023 March 2 4

Great Lakes Secondary School students will be showcasing their comedic, dramatic and performing artistic talents March 2-4 as part of the school’s popular annual Revue.

Skits, comedy sketches, music and dancing – including the World Famous Girls’ Kickline, a carryover of the famed former SCITS Revue – await audience members who attend one of three shows in the school’s newly renovated auditorium.

After losing two years to the pandemic, students from grades nine to 12 have been eager to step into the spotlight, said teacher/producer/Revue guru April Brander. That eagerness is the inspiration behind this year’s theme, ‘Coming out of our Shell’.

Not only will attendees get to take in original comedy pieces written by Great Lakes students, but will also see adapted/borrowed material from other comedy shows, five different bands, as well as several dances.

On top of all that, visitors can also sit back and admire the expertise of lighting technicians, sound technicians and the stage crew, all students gaining valuable experience running equipment in the state-of-the-art theatre.

“Many of the performers are current or former drama students in the school, but others are kids who are otherwise not involved in the arts,” Brander said. “The comedy is what draws them together. Everyone loves to laugh.”

Tickets for Revue 2023: Coming out of our Shell are $10 each and are available at the school office between 8:30 am and 3 pm daily or at The Book Keeper in Northgate Plaza.

Performances take place at the Great Lakes Secondary School Theater (340 Murphy Rd.) on Thursday, March 2, Friday, March 3 and Saturday, March 4 beginning at 7:30 pm, with doors open at 7 pm
