Great from the Finns in the Diamond League! Wilma Murto beat her best of the summer, Viivi Lehikoinen, into second place handsomely

Great from the Finns in the Diamond League Wilma Murto

Wilma Murto and Viivi Lehikoinen took second place in the athletics Diamond League in Lausanne.

Wilma Murto surpassed her summer best of 477 and took second place in the athletics Diamond League women’s pole vault in Lausanne.

Murto had already won the competition, but the US Olympic champion played a tough tactical game Katie Moon rose to victory with a score of 482. Moon missed the height of 477, but bent 482 on her third attempt.

– Now it was successful that the race went well, even though it wasn’t a great feeling. I gave what could be given now. This has been a tight competitive pace throughout June, Murto said in the Sports Association’s press release.

Murto cleared 441 in the second, 451 in the first, 461 and 471 in the second and 477 in the first.

– The race got off to a slow start, but I was able to push through to the end. 482 resulted in two bad limbos and one splash, but the crossings of 471 and 477 left more to think about.

For Murrolle, the Lausanne competition ended the early summer competition tour. Now there is a training period ahead of the Diamond League competition in London on July 23rd.

Viivi Lehikoinen finished second with a top run

Viivi Lehikoinen finished second in the women’s 400m hurdles. Lehikoinen ran a time of 54.67 and was 27 hundredths short of the Finnish record he set earlier in the summer. Holland’s Femke Bol won with a time of 52.76.

– It was a really good run. Last week and this week there have been a few problems with running, and I didn’t feel good in training either. I thought I would focus on running as hard as possible at the beginning. It worked in Huelva and now, Lehikoinen referred to his Huelva SE run of 54.40.

Although the run went well, it left me suitably hungry for the coming races.

– I personally thought at the finish that the time could have been better, as Bol has not been this close before, Lehikoinen repeated.

Oliver Helander: “A little more difficult today”

Oliver Helander finished fourth in the men’s javelin competition. Helander threw the best result of the evening, 83.50, and was unfortunately left out of the final round of the top three.

– Today was a little more difficult. Came too close on the first throw and it went over. For some reason, it was a little difficult to start healing, Helander said.

Helander threw his season’s best 87.32 at the Paavo Nurme Games at the beginning of June.

– In the first one, I tried to throw the same way as in Turku, so that the competition would get off to a good start. For the fourth throw, I then took off a bit of speed and it went better, Helander said.

of India Neeraj Chopra celebrated the victory with a score of 87.66. Germany’s Julian Weber raced 87.03 and finished second. Czech Republic Jakub Vadlejch took third place (86.13).

On the running track, Norway, who won the men’s 1,500 meters, stunned the men Jakob Ingebrigtsen and the 5,000m number one in Ethiopia Berihu Aregawi.

Ingebrigtsen ran less than a second away from her new European record with a time of 3:28.72, and Aregawi roared with vitos almost solo with the season’s top time of 12:40.45.
