In Gray Zone Warfare, it sometimes feels like the NPCs are using an aimbot. Now the developers have responded to this frustrating problem.
What’s the problem with the NPCs? In Gray Zone Warfare, it can currently happen that NPCs fire at you with precision over very long distances and take you out.
The tracking of the NPCs is sometimes too strong, inconsistent and unrealistic. It happens that they follow your movements precisely, even when there is no longer visual contact. You will then be hit precisely by their shots even if you are already behind cover.
NPCs should be able to better recognize blocked lines of sight
What do the developers want to do about it? As the developers of Gray Zone Warfare now explained in a community briefing on YouTube, they want to weaken the “Aimbot AI”:
“We are working to curb the aimbot AI. They are currently exhibiting unusual behaviors and the developers are working on making them more consistent and less accurate at range and making the AI tracking more consistent with line of sight.”
In the future, the artificial intelligence will be less precise in shooting at long distances and will also be able to recognize the environment better. NPCs will therefore be prevented from shooting at you precisely through walls or objects in the future.
Is it getting too easy for you now? No. The developers emphasize in the community briefing that Gray Zone Warfare is intended to be a challenging game.
The team is continuing to work on the shooter and wants to make the AI both more intelligent and more difficult. The only thing that needs to be fixed is the feeling that the NPCs are using an aimbot. That’s probably a bit too strong and, above all, inconsistent.
This was also one of the problems that the German content creator and shooter expert Fabian Siegismund criticized in his video about Gray Zone Warfare.
