Grave candles were lit in Tomelilla in protest against higher electricity bills

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

During the month of December, electricity bills are expected to be record high for many. Therefore, about 20 people gathered to light grave candles and demonstrate.

It was the idea of self-employed Daniel Björk to organize the demonstration against higher electricity bills. This is to show how many are at risk of being affected and may even go bankrupt. He himself runs a truck workshop and has experienced the high electricity bills.

– In December, the electricity bill came to just over SEK 100,000, the year before it was SEK 44,000. It will not be sustainable, he says.

Hope for food for thought

The lights will be lit until 10pm on Sunday evening. Daniel Björk says that he hopes that the politicians in the municipality will get food for thought.

– I hope they will see all the lights we have placed and wake up. Because this is not okay, he says.

Similar demonstrations have also been arranged in Helsingborg, Ystad, Trellleborg and Simrishamn during the Sunday evening.
