Grateful Dead bassist dead

Phil Lesh, bassistant in the American rock band Grateful Dead, has died, writes The Independent.

Phil Lesh was born in Berkeley, California in 1940. He was one of the original members, and was around until they disbanded in the mid-90s.

The Grateful Dead formed in the mid-60s and became known for their long live shows where they could jam for hours.

Lesh lived to be 84 years old.
