Operated by the Grand River Conservation Authority, the pool are located in the Brant Conservation Area in Brantford and the Byng Island Conservation Area in Dunnville.
“These pools offer unique and memorable activity for people living in southern Ontario,” said Pam Walther-Mabee, manager of conservation area operations for the GRCA. “The large pools and expansive Byng Island and Brant Conservation Areas allow us to accommodate many guests comfortably.”
The 1.85-acre pool at the 190-acre Byng Island Conservation Area can accommodate up to 1,000 people and has a deeper zone with a diving board. The pool is open from 11 am to 6:30 pm and closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Brant Conservation Area has a 1.25-acre pool that is open seven days a week from 11 am to 7:30 pm
Both pools have slowly sloping bottoms and splashpads.
The fee is $2.75 at each pool for those four and over and visitors are required to pay a day-use fee to enter the park if they are older than three years of age.
The parks also offer camping, hiking, cycling, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Byng Island offers kayak, canoe and paddle boat rentals and can accommodate power boats. Brant has several Grand River access points for those who bring their own canoe or kayak.
