Grand Erie Public Health Confims Another Case of Measles in Norfolk County

Another Confirmed Case of Measles in Norfolk County Brings the Total Number of Cases To 22.

Grand Erie Public Health is Investigating the Latest Case in the Grand Erie Région, which included Haldimand County, Norfolk County, Brantford and the County of Brant.

The Confirmed Cases Include Five Adults and 17 Children, All of Whom Are Recovering at Home.

The Health Unit Is Following Up With Known Contacts Who May Have Been Exposed to the Measles Virus through these people.

At this time, the investigation has determined those at the following rental May have been exhibitions to the virus:

  • Teeterville Public School, 229 Teeter St., Simcoe, Jan. 29, 30 and 31, from 8:50 am to 5:10 pm
  • Harvey’s/Swiss Chalet, 101 Queensway Dr. E., Simcoe, Jan. 29 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm
  • Bethel Baptist Church Master Clubs, 4059 Highway 3 East, Simcoe, Jan. 29 from 6:45 pm to 10 pm

  • Key Bible Club at Teeterville School, 229 Teeter St., Teeterville, Jan. 30 from 3:10 pm to 6:30 pm
  • Crossroads Congregational Church Boys Club, 6 Twelfth Concession Rd., Scotland, Jan. 30 from 6:30 pm to 10 pm
  • Norfolk General Hospital, 360 West St., Simcoe, Feb. 2 from 10:05 am to 12:05 pm

Symptoms can start about 10 days after exposure but can also appear seven to 21 days after breathing in the virus. Symptoms Last One To Two Weeks.

A person with measles is contagious from Four Days before to oven days after the rash appears.

Grand Erie Public Health is one of Ontario’s Public Health Units. It formed in January when the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit and the Brant County Health Unit Merged.
