The Government and SD agree to borrow money for new military defense spending so as not to “penetrate important welfare needs or the investments in internal security”, the Prime Minister announced during the press conference where the four party leaders of time cooperation present a number of news in the defense area.
– It is a loan -financed defense initiative from this year via 2030 until 2035 that could land on a total of approximately SEK 300 billion, says Ulf Kristersson.
25 billion to defense equipment
Europe’s and Sweden’s ability to defend themselves characterizes a number of investments from the government. This year’s financial support for Ukraine is increasing significantly while the defense gets more money to buy defense equipment.
Among other things, a hybrid package was presented within the framework of the upcoming spring change budget.
The government also announced that it gives the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration more resources in the form of SEK 25 billion to buy defense equipment. This is done by raising the so -called authorization framework for the years 2026, 2027 and 2028.
Extra support for Ukraine
With regard to Ukraine, the government has previously created a three -year framework for military support for Ukraine with SEK 25 billion annually 2024-2026.
Now it is intended to increase 20 billion from the appropriations for 2026 to the current year.
