Government spokesperson Ousmane Gaoual Diallo insisted at the microphone of Sidy Yansané on the fact that this attempted putsch did indeed take place: “ It was an operation that was nipped in the bud. There is no doubt about that. Now, let there be questions, it is a society which has been nourished since its independence by real and false coups d’état which have often taken away some of our compatriots. So, when we talk about coups, fundamentally, there is a segment of our population who may ask questions. »
He pursues : ” With time, we will also be able to understand what happened because the perpetrators are there. And then, perhaps more structured information could be made available to populations, and this will help dispel everyone’s doubts. These are legitimate doubts in a society which has only known very harsh regulations for this type of action. »
On the opposition side, Cellou Dalein Diallo, president of the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG), the main opposition force currently in exile, deplored a return to the practices of the regime of Sékou Touré, the father of Guinean independence, and fan of fictitious conspiracies.
“ In 1970, 1971, 1972, I was still at universityhe tells the microphone of Sidy Yansané. I saw these young women, these ladies, these soldiers, admitting to having plotted, asking for the president’s indulgence, thanking him for his clemency. That reminded me, all that was missing was the slate on which their name was written “.
He accuses : ” I think we are assassinating press freedom. I see what’s happening, we cut the internet, we cut off the main radio stations. I have doubts, personally, I do not sense any political will to hand over power to civilians, because today, we do not have an electoral register. We don’t have an electoral code, we don’t have a technical operator, we don’t have a division. Everything that contributes to the organization of the elections, nothing has yet been done. »
As a reminder, on September 5, 2021, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya led a coup d’état which overthrew President Alpha Condé, in power for more than 10 years. After this putsch, Colonel Doumbouya was installed as president and committed to handing over power to elected civilians at the end of 2024.
