(Finance) – Will it be rupture or will Premier Draghi be able to mend the tear? After the postponement due to the commitments of the Premier in Canazei, today is the day of the face to face between Conte and the Prime Minister. The game is very delicate and the outcome is anything but obvious.
Draghi-Count face to face – On the one hand there is the Head of the Cinquestelle Movement, Giuseppe Conte which will present itself with a list of “desired” while – also in the wake of the split desired by Luigi Di Maio – the pressure of a slice of activists and parliamentarians is growing to leave the government and possibly maintain external support. So much so that several analysts point out that the issue is no longer “whether to” leave the majority but “when”.
Dragons, for his part, during the last press conference he wanted to clarify that “there is no majority without the Cinquestelle” but what filters is that the Prime Minister has no intention of backing down: the former ECB is ready , of course, to negotiate but certainly not to upset the Government agenda. And he now he demands a definitive clarification: either inside or outside. And, for the Cinquestelle, the hypothesis of leaving the majority is something more than one simple temptation.
In or out? – Especially since to remain Conte he has already set more than one condition: no to the sending of long-range weapons to Ukraine, no to the reduction of citizenship income, no to the waste-to-energy plant in Rome, yes to the minimum wage. The feeling is that in the end, the Prime Minister – albeit with difficulty – will be able to mend the tear, stopping for now the emergency destined to reappear soon, with the majority ready to stumble on some other awkward dossier.
What is certain is that if instead – a less probable hypothesis but still on track – the movement should decide to do the extreme step by calling himself out, the only road will be that of the end of the government and, with great probability, of the dissolution of the Chambers.
Goodbye wide field? – In the meantime, the warning from the secretary of the Democratic Party arrives Enrico Letta: “Our country needs stability, a strong and solid government capable of facing the challenge of the highest inflation in 35 years and the cost of energy. There is a need to intervene on social suffering… “. Translated: if the Movement chooses the path of external support, goodbye wide field in view of the next elections.
