Finance Minister Rishi Sunak and Health Minister Sajid Javid are resigning in protest from the government.

It could be the last blow for Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

“It will be over by this time tomorrow,” one of his closest allies told the BBC.

The pressure on Boris Johnson was already great. The scandal with the parties on 10 Downing Street led to party colleagues a month ago directed a distrust of Johnson. He managed with 211 votes against 148.

Now it is storming again, stronger than ever, with demands for the resignation of the Prime Minister.

On Tuesday night, two heavyweight ministers announced they were leaving the Johnson government in protest.

“The public rightly expects government power to be handled properly, competently and seriously. I realize that this may be my last ministerial job, but I think these principles are worth fighting for and that is why I am resigning, ”writes Minister of Finance Rishi Sunak in his resignation application.

Shortly before, the Minister of Health, Sajid Javid, had announced his resignation Twitter.

“It has been a great privilege to serve in this role. But I regret that I can no longer continue with a clear conscience.”

“Will be over”

Sunak and Javid’s sorties are a hard blow to the politically wounded Boris Johnson and his government.

“What we see unfolding before our eyes tonight is a possible collapse for the government,” writes BBC political editor Chris Mason.

Another source BBCwhich is to be one of the Prime Minister’s closest allies, provides a fateful forecast.

“It will be over by this time tomorrow. No prime minister can survive two heavy ministers resigning in that way. “

“A house of cards built on lies”

The opposition goes to frontal attack. Keir Starmer, leader of Labor, says BBC that Johnson “dishonored his office” and calls his Tories party corrupt.

– After all the dishonesty, scandals and failures, it is clear that the government is now collapsing. The ministers from the Tories have always known who this prime minister is, says Starmer.

Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats, does not mince words either.

“A house of cards built on lies and fraud collapses. Leave and leave now. You have discredited our country long enough, ”he writes Twitter.

Nicola Sturgeon, leader of the Scottish Nationalist Party, that “the whole rotten society” must resign.

Group leaders are accused of harassment

In the British media, there is now speculation about which more people might leave the government.

Minister of Culture Nadine Dorries and Brexit Minister Jacob Rees-Mogg have ridden out in defense of Boris Johnson, writes BBC.
