The schools in Gothenburg can have the indoor temperature lowered when the city is on the hunt for energy thieves.
The politicians agree – the city must save and energy consumption must be reduced even more, write Gothenburg Post (GP).
The local administration tells the newspaper that the temperatures inside the classrooms could be as low as 18 degrees.
The municipal board already decided last week that energy use in the city must be reduced by at least five percent.
But it is not only the schools that can be affected. The local administration manages 1,500 different objects, including libraries and museums, with a total area of two billion square meters.
The municipality is also investigating whether there are empty premises that can be closed down, or facilities where it is too hot or drafts from windows.
