“Got a big garbage can in the back”

Suddenly the horizon was colored black and the couple began to flee towards the apartment.
Two minutes later they were in the middle of the storm.
I got a big garbage can in the back, says Emma Abrahamsson, on location in Mallorca.

During Sunday, a severe storm hit eastern Spain with strong storms and intense rain.

Several airports in the Balearic Islands were forced to cancel departures – and the Swedish paradise Mallorca was hit hard.

Swedish Emma Abrahamsson is in Port de Andratx. On a sunny day walk with her husband, she suddenly discovered that the horizon was colored black and in just two minutes the storm was upon them.

– It was a nasty experience and it could have ended badly, but we were lucky. We got flower pots all over us. I got a big trash can in the back. There was flying furniture. We ran along the promenade, Emma tells Nyhetsmorgon.

Stormy winds and heavy downpours over Mallorca

“Was shocked”

The couple fled along the beach road and luckily a cafe owner was able to open his doors for Emma and her husband.

– Otherwise, I don’t know how this would have gone. We were actually a bit shocked, she says.

Several people were injured in the Spanish storm, but luckily the Abrahamsson couple escaped without major injuries.

– My husband was hit in the back by a flower pot. It was nasty.

On Monday, the storm has subsided, but the authorities have issued new warnings for strong winds.

– We’ll probably try to stay indoors today, says Emma.
