Gordon Herbert is still coaching the German national team at the Paris Olympics.
The Finnish-Canadian, who will leave the duties of the head coach of the German national team after the Paris Olympics Gordon Herbert65, has signed a two-year head coaching deal with reigning Euroleague champions Bayern Munich.
Herbert was awarded coach of the year at the Finnish Sports Gala in January.

Herbert has behind him a successful period at the helm of the German national team. He took over the duties of the head coach of the German national team in the fall of 2021 and coached his group to the EC bronze in 2022 and the world championship in 2023. Herbert, who is preparing for the Paris Olympics with his national team, has been awarded for his merits both in Germany and in Finland as coach of the year.
Herbert, who represented the Canadian national team as a player in the 1984 Olympics and the 1986 World Championships, played his professional career in Finland and Belgium from 1982–94 after his NCAA years at the University of Idaho. Herbert received Finnish citizenship at the end of the 1980s and became a coach in 1994, when he took over the Uudenkaupunki Korihait, which plays in the Korisliiga.
Herbert has had time to coach major league teams in Finland, Austria, Germany, France, Greece, Russia as well as in the NBA (Toronto Raptors 2008-09). At national team level, in addition to Germany, Herbert has commanded the youth national teams of Georgia, Canada and Finland.
