Google will soon integrate a price tracker into Chrome. A very practical function to monitor promotions on a specific product in the browser, especially at the approach of the end of the year holidays.

Although Chrome is the most popular web browser, Google keeps adding new features to it to stay ahead of the competition, especially against Microsoft’s Edge, which shares the same engine, and keeps winning. in power and popularity. And for version 108, which should be deployed soon, Google has had an idea that should make life easier for everyone who makes purchases on the Net, especially as the holiday season approaches. In fact, Chrome 108 will integrate an integrated price tracker: a “smart” tool, capable of sending an alert by e-mail when a previously reported product will be the subject of a promotion or a price change. A very practical option to save money – and which may limit compulsive purchases… – and which perfectly complements the package tracking function that Google has just installed in Gmail (see our article). Other new features will also be included, including a side panel that allows you to reopen a search results page without having to leave the site open. A kind of mini browser in the browser in short!

Chrome 108: a tool to monitor price drops

Google Chrome will include a price tracker to watch for a promotion on several online stores at the same time. Please note, this is not a price comparison between the different sites. For example, the tool will not tell you which of Amazon, Fnac or Boulanger sells the cheapest iPhone 14. On the other hand, if you put an alert on this particular product, Google will send you an e-mail when one of the sites, whatever it is, lowers its price. To do this, simply connect your Google account to Chrome, and the page on which tracking has been configured appears directly in the “Other Favorites” folder. Of course, tracking can be disabled at any time.

To take advantage of this function, you must of course use Chrome, access an online store and go to the page of the desired product. Then just click on the button Follow the price in the address bar, then again on Follow the pricein the menu. Therefore, as soon as a price drop is detected, an email will automatically be sent to the address associated with the Google account used in Chrome. And to stop tracking, you will have to return to the menu Follow the priceto select the option Unfollow. Simple, right?

Chrome 108: a panel for search results

This is not the only novelty that version 108 of the web browser will bring. Indeed, Chrome will be equipped with a side panel accessible at the level of the URL bar which will allow you, when you perform a Google search, to quickly and easily browse the results of your search, without having to constantly return back to open a new result. In concrete terms, you open the first link offered by the search engine, then you display the other search results in the sidebar in order to compare the pages with each other. If one of them interests you, click on it and the page will open in a new tab. A function which is very strongly inspired by that of Microsoft Edge but which saves precious time.

With this browser update, you will also be able to easily connect to websites and applications on your smartphone. Just download Chrome for iOS or Android, connect and synchronize using a QR Code system. You can also pin a tab that you open very often during your navigation so that it is always in the same place. At the moment, version 108 of Chrome is not available to the general public, but Google should soon deploy it.
