Google will allow uninstalling an app without deleting user data

Do you need to free up storage space on your Android smartphone? Google will soon offer you a new function to uninstall an app without losing the data associated with it. The publisher has just announced to developers the arrival of a new type of APK (Archived APK). With this new format, the user will be able to archive an app rather than completely uninstalling it. Its data will be kept until the app is eventually restored.

Note that this function already exists in iOS. The user has the choice between deleting an app or uninstalling it. With the second option, documents and data are retained.

Google has started rolling out the new APK format to app developers. However, the function will not be available for Android users until later this year.
