A street view from Google Maps in the Spanish village of Tajueco with 56 inhabitants may have solved a murder mystery.

The image is believed to show a man loading a corpse into the tailgate of a car.

A possible triangle drama hides behind the suspected murder.

In October, the car that photographs streets for Google Maps drove through the Spanish village of Tajueco for the first time in 15 years. Now the Spanish police believe that a picture taken at the time can solve a murder mystery after a Cuban man disappeared in Spain last November, reports El País.

The picture shows how a man, in broad daylight, loads a large package into the trunk of a car. The police suspect that it may contain the body of the missing man.

Visited the suspicious woman

Two people have now been arrested: the man seen in the picture and his ex-wife. The man is said to have previously worked at a bar in the village and was called El lobo, the wolf, according to local residents. The motive behind the suspected murder is still unclear, but the murdered man also allegedly had a relationship with the arrested woman at some point and visited her during the last year, writes El Pais.

The Cuban man was reported missing in November 2023. A relative then contacted police with suspicion after receiving messages on Whatsapp from the man’s phone saying he had met a woman, was leaving the region and was getting rid of his phone.

A torso buried in a cemetery

What happened between the disappearance in November 2023 until the body is suspected to be moved in the picture in October 2024 is still shrouded in obscurity. With the help of the picture and other evidence such as SMS conversations between the suspect man and the woman, they were able to be arrested.

The investigation after the arrest reportedly led the police last week to a cemetery where they allegedly found a buried torso that was in “a later stage of decay.” The rest of the body has still not been found. The arrested man and woman are charged with unlawful detention and murder.
