Google Maps is soon putting an end to this practical

Google Maps is used in more than 250 countries, but a little-known feature other than directions is soon to disappear.

By 2023, more than a billion people around the world were using Google Maps, primarily to find directions. Available on Android and iOS devices, as well as on the Internet, this online mapping service also allows you to compare means of transport, find a business or view a location with Google Street View! Tools very appreciated by users who, however, many ignore a functionality that will soon disappear.

Indeed, since 2018, Google Maps has offered a functionality which seems to have been little used by motorists. This is the instant messaging service which allows you to chat with shops or businesses located nearby. This option will therefore disappear on July 15 for new discussions and on July 31 for conversations already started. If you still want to take advantage of it before it disappears, the procedure is simple.

Open Google Maps on your mobile (this feature does not work on desktop) and check if the establishment you are interested in offers the “chat” option which is right next to “book” and “call”. If this is the case, you can start interacting with the establishment by asking questions. Please note, not all establishments offer this option and some of those that do only respond with automatic messages. If this feature has not been very popular with its users, know that Google Maps has other very useful features.

It allows you to record where you parked your car if you are distracted or have no sense of direction. Once you have parked your vehicle, launch Google Maps and click on the blue dot representing your location. Then choose the “Save parking location” option. The message “You are parked here” will be displayed and will be accompanied by a red pin which will allow you to easily find your car.

Google Maps also offers another useful tool to avoid crowds in restaurants! To find out the times when you can have lunch or dinner in peace, all you have to do is select the establishment of your choice, then “Busy times” before choosing the day of the week, and a time to obtain information regarding estimated waiting time.
