Google has just launched the deployment of the final version of Android 13. After several beta versions, the Mountain View giant has indeed announced the arrival of the stable version in a blog post.

Note that Google took several weeks ahead of its usual schedule. As a general rule, the company waits for the start of the school year to begin the deployment of a new version of its operating system.

Which smartphones are compatible with Android 13?

As always, Google is rolling out the update in priority on its own smartphones, Pixels. Android 13 is now available on the following references: Pixel 4 (XL), Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5, Pixel 5a (5G), Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a.

Note that a bug has appeared on some units. Following a malfunction, Google has indeed deployed Android 12 instead of Android 13. If your device offers to install Android 12, refrain and wait for Google to correct the situation.

Smartphones from other manufacturers will soon be added to the list. According to Google, several brands will deploy Android 13 on some of their phones before January 2023. These include Samsung, Asus, Nokia, iQOO, Motorola, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Sharp, Sony, Tecno, Vivo and Xiaomi.

Obviously, manufacturers will offer the update on recent high-end smartphones in its catalog as a priority. Owners of an older mid-range phone will have to wait a few more months. If your phone is really dated, you might even have to give up Android 13.

The main new features of Android 13

Google inaugurates a new media player on Android 13. The progress bar now highlights where you are in listening to a music track. The album cover now takes up all the space in the background. The interface also has an improved bedtime mode, with a wallpaper and a dedicated dark theme.

In addition, Google points out that it has added options to protect privacy users. Android 13 lets you share only certain photos with apps, automatically clear clipboard history, and prevent pop-up notifications. From now on, Android applications indeed “need your explicit permission to send notifications”.

Several features for facilitate communication from one device to another have also emerged. For example, you can send messages from a Chromebook through Android apps or copy content from a phone and paste it on a tablet.
