Google is improving its suggestions in Chrome. Now you’ll get results based on what other people are searching for, and you can even get results if you have a poor internet connection.
Chrome is the web browser most used by Internet users and, to remain so, it regularly adds new functions in order to be as secure as possible and to make our lives as easy as possible. One of the key points of the browser is suggestions. Indeed, when we browse, it sometimes happens that we do not know exactly what we are looking for, or that we have difficulty optimizing our searches to obtain the most conclusive results. Also, last summer, Google added several new features to its browser on Android and iOS to address this problem. The company had notably integrated a list displaying all the trending searches of the day, a carousel of related topics and suggestions directly in the address bar for certain websites. It continues its improvements and announces, in a blog postthe addition of three new functions to continue to highlight the suggestions offered in Chrome.
Google Chrome: suggestions everywhere, all the time
The first new feature is the addition of suggestions based on those of other users. So, each time you open a new tab in Chrome, the browser will display new suggestions in the search box. These will be linked to our previous searches as well as similar queries searched by other Internet users. For example, if one typed “Japchae”, suggestions of other popular Korean dishes will be displayed, including images.
Previously, Chrome only displayed images in the address bar that matched a specific product you were searching for, such as an “Isanti dining table.” Google has decided to add more images to search suggestions on Android and iOS for broader shopping categories and less specific search-based products. So, if you search for “bohemian table”, Google will bring up images of other products around this theme, such as a “bohemian tablecloth” or a “bohemian table lamp”.
Also on iOS and Android, Chrome is now able to display suggestions even in the event of a poor Internet connection, instead of just displaying a blank page. This will still provide the beginnings of a response, which is better than nothing. This also means that we will get more relevant suggestions in private browsing. Google is in the process of rolling out these new features, so we should be able to take advantage of them soon.
