The new Google shopping feature aims to show what clothing sizes look like on real people. The tool uses artificial intelligence to render the image of the garment on a model.

Shyam Sunder, product manager for the virtual trial feature at Google, said at a press briefing that the company hired 80 models (40 women and 40 men) to create this shopping option.

JUST ONE IMAGE IS ENOUGH

Sunder said that Google only needs one image to create an AI-crafted representation of an article of clothing on a model.

Google executive Lilian Rincon wrote in the company’s blog post that Google’s technology can show how the product “sticks, stretches and creates wrinkles and shadows, etc.

Google will initially support women’s tops with this feature. However, the company says it plans to expand it to other categories as well.
