Google Calendar is getting a small update when it comes

Google Calendar is getting a small update when it comes to scheduling appointments. It includes a new option for choosing their recurrence and the ability for guests to invite other people.

Google Calendar has continued to evolve since its release fourteen years ago, to now offer simple and comprehensive calendar management adopted by millions of Internet users. A few taps of the finger are enough to create personalized calendars bringing together professional appointments, family events that must be attended, birthdays not to be missed, etc. Better still, you can easily share them with all your contacts.

The fact remains that the digital giant’s service has long suffered from a lack of planning options, which are not very diversified. But on July 9, Google announced in a blog post rolling out new appointment scheduling features in Google Calendar, with the aim of simplifying the process and providing more flexibility to users.

Google Calendar: for more flexible use

Until now, when scheduling an appointment in Google Calendar, you could configure its recurrence so that it would repeat every week (weekly) or not. This update introduces a new option to set a custom frequency for recurring appointments. For example, it will be possible to schedule a biweekly appointment, that is, one that repeats every two weeks. This brings more flexibility! This feature has been gradually deployed since July 9.

Also new: Meeting organizers and co-organizers will now be able to add additional attendees or rooms to booked events, provided the original organizer has enabled the “Guests can invite others” option. Additionally, the organizer will also be able to add Google Groups as co-hosts during the setup process, making it easier for users to schedule meetings with others. This feature will be rolled out gradually starting July 23.

Google Calendar: a uniform and consistent interface

Currently, Google Calendar offers two tools with similar functions: “Time Slots” and “Appointment Scheduling”. In recent years, the latter has become more advanced than the former. Also, in a previous announcementthe digital giant had announced that from July 18, the “Time slots” function would be permanently replaced by the “Appointment planning” function, in order to make the interface and use of the tool more consistent.

The custom recurrence option and the ability for guests to invite others to appointments will roll out in the coming weeks to Workspace Business, Education, and Enterprise users, as well as nonprofits, individual subscribers, Google One Premium users, and those with personal accounts. Adding groups as co-organizers on appointments will be available to Workspace Business, Education, and Enterprise users, as well as nonprofits.
