After Hans Adriani has retired, Guido Bamberg is the new alderman candidate of the PvdA in Nieuwegein. He is an old acquaintance in Nieuwegein politics and was previously a member of the city council. Negotiations for a coalition agreement and the formation of the new college are still in full swing. An agreement is expected to be reached by mid-June. Until the appointment of the new council, Hans Adriani will remain alderman on behalf of the PvdA.
In addition to the PvdA, GroenLinks, the VVD and Local Renewal are sitting at the table during the negotiations. For those parties, Marieke Schouten, Ellie Eggengoor and John van Engelen are successively alderman candidates. All of them are now also aldermen in the college. It remains to be seen whether there will be four or five aldermen in the new council.
