We have previously reported on the extreme water levels in Lake Vättern. The measuring point in Motala has shown 40 centimeters above normal. Something that, among other things, led to floods and trouble for the boat club in Askersund.
But now Tekniska verken in Linköping, which regulates the water level with its hydroelectric station in Motala, has seen a, for them, positive trend break. The water level is slowly going down.
And thanks to favorable weather, it looks like the water may continue to recede.
Gives margin
With the help of SMHI’s forecasts, Gabriel Fager predicts that water levels may drop to 30 centimeters above normal during the month of August.
Something that would be positive as it gives more margin in the event of heavy downpours and seasonal precipitation that is expected during autumn and winter.
– SMHI has made a forecast that extends until the turn of the year, but of course it becomes more uncertain the further you look. The flow from Lake Vättern will probably be higher than normal for the rest of the year. But it looks promising.
