Good news for Google Maps users: the navigation application is getting a new, simple and intuitive reporting button. This will make it easier to avoid traffic jams!
For many of us, Google Maps has become a faithful companion when traveling, but also in everyday life. Whether it’s to get to an appointment, check the travel time or simply find a nice little restaurant to have lunch at, the mapping service from the Mountain View firm is always there, faithful to its post, to the point of becoming indispensable.
And it intends to become even more so! Indeed, Google Maps now benefits from the advantages of Waze, since the American giant merged the development teams in December 2022. This summer, it announced the cross-referencing of reports from the communities of the two mapping services, which would lead to a whole bunch of improvements and new features (see our article). Things are progressing since, as reported Smartdroida new button for reports appears.
Google Maps Reports: An Intuitive and Simplified Process
Users can now use this button to report traffic jams, accidents, construction sites, lane closures, breakdowns and objects on the road much faster when planning a route or actively navigating. These reports are displayed on the map and users can see when other users have reported an event. It is also possible to confirm the information with a simple tap to make your contribution.
Everything is quickly available so as not to engage the driver in a long tunnel of options – remember that you are not supposed to use your smartphone while driving. For now, this new function is only available on the Android mobile application. Unfortunately, it will take some time before it arrives on Android auto.
