The number of cases of infectious diseases such as gonorrhea, cases of TBE and invasive infections with group A streptococcus continues to increase in Sweden, according to the Public Health Agency’s annual summary for infectious diseases for 2023.
One of the reasons for the increased cases of the disease is believed to be that the immunity of the population is lower after the restrictions during the pandemic years.
Diseases that have, however, decreased compared to 2022 are influenza, covid-19 and RS virus.
