A boozy golf cart ride in the wee hours of the morning has resulted in charges for one Tillsonburg person.
It was shortly after 1:30 am Aug. 13 when an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police Elgin detachment stopped a golf cart driving on Nova Scotia Line near Chatham Street, an intersection near the community of Port Burwell, located along the shores of Lake Erie.
The officer saw open alcohol containers and suspected the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside test registering an “alert,” police say.
A 33-year-old of Tillsonburg person was issued a three-day license suspension and charged with having open liquor “in an unauthorized place.”
Golf carts are not permitted to be driven on Ontario roads and are intended for use on private property only, police noted.
