The Golden Raspberry Awards, which are given to the worst movies and acting of the year, have canceled the award that they announced will be given to Bruce Willis this year.
Willis’ family announced on Wednesday that the famous actor suffered from a brain disease called aphasia. This disease leads to a decline in people’s speaking and writing abilities.
The award committee that gave the Golden Raspberry, also known as Razzie, declared that it would not be right to give an award to someone whose performance deteriorated on medical grounds.
A special category was opened for Willis at the awards, and Cosmic Sin won the Worst Bruce Willis Performance category in 2021, in which eight films he took part in competed.
In the statement made on the Twitter account of the award ceremony, it was stated that the reason why Willis played in so many films in 2021 may be that he wanted to play as many roles as possible before he had to quit acting, and the Willis family were conveyed their best wishes.
This year’s winners of the awards were announced on Saturday.
Shelley Duvall, who was the first winner of the awards that started to be given in 1980 with her performance in The Shining, was also cancelled.
The award committee announced that they learned that Duvall’s performance may have been the result of Stanley Kubrick’s mistreatment and that they were withdrawing the award.
