Gogoro unveils the very first interchangeable solid state battery

Gogoro, the specialist in interchangeable batteries for electric scootershas just presented a prototype of solid electrolyte battery lithium ceramic. Co-developed with ProLogium Technology, this accumulator retains the Gogoro interchangeable battery format while offering a capacity of 2.5 kWh compared to 1.7 kWh for current models. A very substantial gain which should make it possible to increase theautonomy from two electric wheels and shorten the charging time. Another advantage of this type of battery solidan almost zero risk ofinflammation compared to electrolyte batteries liquid.

Solid-state battery technologies represent a new phase in the future of electric vehicles, and we look forward to advancing this Gogoro battery prototype into a commercial offering in the future. commented Vincent Yang, Founder and CEO of ProLogium Technology. Gogoro has not yet indicated when this solid battery will expire. lithium ceramic still in the development phase will arrive on the market.

In Asia, the Gogoro network has 10,000 stations. It is particularly dense in Taiwan where, according to Gogoro, it powers 95% of the electric two-wheelers in circulation. The company manufactures its own electric scooters using its interchangeable batteries. Recently, Yamaha unveiled a electric scooter compatible with Gogoro batteries. The Yamaha EMF opts for a design with sporty accents that borrows from the codes aesthetics of the motorbikewith the fork an integral part of the front bumper and the double front and rear headlights in a vertical position.
