The government wants more young people to do military service. Sometime between 2030 and 2035, the number should have increased to 10,000 per year, says Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M) to SVT Nyheter.
– The reason is that Sweden must have a stronger defense, and then we must also be able to staff it.
Currently, 5,000-6,000 young people do military service every year. According to previous decisions, the number in 2025 should be 8,000.
Earlier, ÖB Micael Bydén said that the number should be 10,000 in 2030, which the Social Democrats also support.
