The Swedish national team has had a tough year behind it, and Janne Andersson’s contract as national team captain expires next year.
Glenn Hysén has a proposal for a replacement.
– I would like to have a type like that, he says to Sportbibeln.
The Swedish men’s national team has been slow in the last couple of years. A string of defeats and drop points has led to relegation to the Nations League Division C and two missed championships as the biggest lows.
Salute to Janne Andersson
Due to the many miscalculations and a sluggish game, many are now calling for a change in the national team captaincy. The former national team player Glenn Hysén is not so sure.
– Janne is a damn good old man. Then he hasn’t quite got it right. But it’s hard as hell if someone else is going to take over, who the hell are we going to have then? You can’t just drop a penny and take someone. It must be a good idea if you are going to change coaches, who could do it better? Otherwise, I don’t think it’s a big idea to change just for the sake of changing, he says to Sportbibeln.

Hysén compares the national team with his favorite club IFK Göteborg.
– It has been a bit like that in Blåvitt as well. They have changed coaches left and right. Now that it’s starting to work, he’ll be around for a while, and that’s what’s needed – continuity. I think it would be sad if Janne were to go, but I understand why the thoughts go there.

Hysén’s proposal for the national team captain
The Blåvittikonen would like to keep Janne Andersson, and thinks it is difficult to come up with suggestions on who can take over. But one coach stands out a little extra for Hysén.

He can be found in the Allsvenskan and coaches Gothenburg’s rival Malmö FF.
– I really like Henrik Rydström, both as a player and as a leader. He’s right on, that’s a real fighter. As a player he was great and he is the same as a coach. I would probably like to have one like that, says Hysén.
