Zlatan Ibrahimovic has said goodbye to football.
One of Swedish football’s absolute greatest of all time.
But it pisses off Glenn Hysén that “Ibra” never got the biggest recognition a Swedish footballer can get.
24 years, 32 titles and 9 different clubs were the result of the long and successful career of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. But now the saga of “Ibra” is over and one of Sweden’s greatest footballers of all time has said goodbye.
Zlatan’s career
He has done the most that can be done and most people can only dream of what Zlatan has accomplished on football pitches around Europe. He has played for the biggest clubs in the form of Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, Milan, PSG and Manchester United.

For the Swedish people, he will always be remembered as the national team’s top scorer ever on the men’s side. But there is something that Ibrahimovic never managed to achieve and then we are not talking about a medal with Sweden or winning the Champions League.

“Hysén class”
It’s better if we ask Glenn Hysen who became the first ever to succeed in the feat. After a heroic effort against England in the World Cup qualifier at Wembley in 1988 which ended 0-0, the centre-back was awarded an unlikely six wasps by the newspaper Expressen.

Then the expression “Hysénklass” was born, which is the level above world class. Since then both have Thomas Brolin and the artist Bruce Springsteen also received the rare accolade of a sixth grade – but never Zlatan.
Glenn roars
The closest he came was in the European Championship qualifiers in 2015. With double goals against Denmark, Ibrahimovic single-handedly pushed Sweden through to European Championship 2016 with a phenomenal effort in the decisive play-off match.

But Zlatan was snubbed that time as well and then Glenn Hysén raised his voice considerably to roar.
– Zlatan was absolutely outstanding! He made both tubs and was shitty otherwise. How can you get better – should you score five goals? says Hysén in the 2015 interview.
– I just read that he got five wasps six or seven times, but that’s not exactly unexpected.
In Glenn’s eyes, it was a scandal that Zlatan, as one of Swedish football’s best ever with a double-digit number of golden balls, never received a sixth grade during his career.
– Which match did he score four goals in?, says Glenn and is told that it was against England in 2012.
– Why the hell didn’t he get six wasps that time?! He would have had six wasps in several games, I think.
