IFK Gothenburg has had a rough go this season, but is on the rise.
However, Glenn Hysén does not dare to withdraw anything in advance.
– There are seven games left, anything can happen, he says.
Glenn Hysén, 63, has played in IFK Gothenburg in two rounds. Between 1978-1983 and between 1985-1987. The former centre-back has therefore become a big icon in Blåvitt, which he has also been a supporter of since childhood.
IFK Gothenburg’s autumn
In recent years, the previously successful Blåvitt has been on the decline. The club’s six most recent table positions in Allsvenskan are as follows: 10th, 11th, 7th, 12th, 8th and 8th. This year’s season is no exception for IFK Göteborg, who with seven rounds to go are in eleventh place.

Despite the table position, Glenn Hysén has a positive outlook on recent times, but he doesn’t dare to blow his breath just yet.
– They had big problems here for a while. Now they have sorted it out, now it looks good. But it’s still tight as hell in the bottom there. Both AIK, Sirius, Degerfors and Blåvitt. And Varberg are almost ready to leave. But it’s a wasp’s nest and there are seven games left, anything can happen, Hysén told Sportbibeln.

Hysén pays homage
What do you think is behind Gothenburg’s improvement during the autumn?
– Arbnor Muçolli is a damn addition, and then has Lucas Kåhed and these guys came in and did damn well. So it’s probably a mixture of them getting organized, and that they gained a bit of confidence when they beat Häcken, then it just kept drumming up. It was probably what was needed, that they got a pass in the middle of all the shit.

Hysén also praises the supporters as an underlying factor.
– We have to praise the supporters, because they have stood up in all weathers. No matter how bad it’s been, they’ve been there. There have always been fifteen, sixteen thousand in the stands. It’s just to applaud. That they stand up both when it’s going to hell and when it’s going well.

Criticizing supporters
In the penultimate round, Blåvitt is pitted against bottom competitor AIK. Then Hysén hopes that both teams are ready to play in the Allsvenskan next season as well.
– If it applies to anything in that match, then it’s not fun, I can say. There will be world war in the stands, unfortunately. It’s too damned, it shouldn’t have to be like that. But you should probably take it a bit cautiously and go to such matches, if it matters, if one of the teams can be eliminated if they lose, says Glenn and continues:
– I don’t understand people who should go on and hate everyone else, love your own team and give a crap about what others do. How hard can it be? I don’t understand why you have to keep fighting and whining, just because you’re on a team. Check the NHL, there you can sit with a New York Rangers jersey in the middle of Toronto. Hell no one cares. That’s how it should be in football too. It is tragic that there will start to be such bloody riots in various places.
