About 26,000 visitors strolled through the 16-acre Ava Road grounds last year, sparkling with an estimated 90,000 lights.

City of Brantford parks staff are busy stringing the lights and setting up displays. Ana Olson, gallery director, said “several new characters will be popping up.”

  • The Merry Little Market, featuring one-of-a-kind vendors, will be at the gallery on Dec. 1, 8 and 15 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm

Admission to the gallery is free, although donations are appreciated. Collection bins will also be on site for Food Bank donations.

The Glenhyrst property, once owned by Edmund Cockshutt, a son of Cockshutt Plow Company magnate Ignatius Cockshutt, was bequeathed to the municipality in 1956 for all Brantford residents to enjoy.

The Brantford Lights began in 2012 when Joysey Street resident Jeff MacDonald moved an extensive light display at his home to the gallery grounds. The display has grown in size each year.
