Giving a diamond at Christmas, a bad idea?

Giving a diamond at Christmas a bad idea

When you give a diamond to your significant other, are you committing… ecocide? Yes, the production of these natural gemstones pollutes. Firstly because to find it, you have to dig deep in the ground, sometimes up to 800 meters. Soil exploitation that can disfigure the fauna and flora. Buying a diamond also means taking the risk, even today, of being associated with child labor or non-respect of human rights.

Faced with these problems, some companies rely on synthetic diamonds, manufactured in the laboratory, in very energy-consuming reactors. We met one of these companies, in Essonne. Find it in our video.
