Gisèle Pélicot is celebrated in court – with applause

She was drugged and raped for ten years by over 80 unknown men – something her husband was behind.

During Tuesday, 71-year-old Dominique Pélicot was questioned, who is accused of having allowed over 80 unknown men to rape his wife Gisèle Pélicot over several years. French media reports that he admits to the crimes.

– I am a rapist. She didn’t deserve it, I was happy with her, he says Le Figaro.

It was the first time Dominique Pélicot himself spoke in court and his testimony will be crucial for the other 50 men also charged in the huge trial. They must be between the ages of 26 and 74.

– Everyone knew what they were invited to, he says during the interrogation.

When Gisèle Pélicot left the courtroom, she was greeted by applause from several people who wanted to pay tribute to her courage. While several photographers gathered around her, she thanked for the support during the ongoing trial.

Gisèle Pélicot has demanded that the trial be kept open to the public as she wants to shed light on how drugs are used in sexual abuse.

Her husband’s computer was searched by the police in 2020 and there were found over 20,000 images and videos showing over 100 rapes of the wife by the various men.
