GIRO. In a very long and flat stage, it was the Briton Mark Cavendish who won in the massive sprint of this 3rd stage of the Giro 2022.
Out of boredom. The Giro riders were in no hurry this Sunday for the 3rd stage of this Tour of Italy between Kaposvar and Balatonfüred for the final stage in Hungary before returning to Italy on Tuesday. If three men quickly found themselves in the lead with again the riders of the Drone Hopper-Androni Giocattoli team Mattia Bais and Filippo Tagliani as well as Samuele Rivi (Eolo-Kometa), the sprinter teams did not leave a margin in controlling the gap of around 2’30” throughout the stage before resuming the breakaways about 20 kilometers from the finish.
With a completely flat profile, the massive sprint was inevitable and in this little game, it was the former world champion Mark Cavendish who raised his arms and won his first stage on this Giro 2022. In the general classification, no change , the Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel keeps his pink tunic on the eve of the first day of rest and is ahead of the Briton Simon Yates.
