A preschool-age girl has been attacked and bitten by a larger dog near a playground in the Gärdet district in Bollnäs.
The girl is taken to hospital by ambulance.
– This is a serious crime when larger dogs attack children. It is very serious. We will do everything in our power to identify who was in charge, says Pelle Vamstad, press spokesperson at police region Mitt.
A preschool-aged girl was bitten by a larger dog in Bollnäs on Tuesday evening. According to the police, the incident must have occurred in connection with a kindergarten and a playground.
– I cannot answer the exact course of events at the moment, but we will investigate that as soon as possible with the help of witnesses and people who were on the scene, says Pelle Vamstad, press spokesperson for police region Mitt.
According to initial information to the police, two dogs were present and one of these allegedly attacked the girl.
– The person who was supervising the dogs must have taken the dogs and left the scene after the attack on the girl, says Vamstad.
There is currently no one in custody in the case.
Unclear state of damage
The girl has been taken to hospital with unclear injuries.
– It’s a pre-school-age girl who has to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance, so my opinion is that it’s serious, but that’s just what I’m speculating, says Vamstad.
– I hope we will find out who is responsible for the dogs. This is a serious crime when larger dogs attack children. Very serious. We will do everything in our power to identify who was in charge, continues Vamstad.
The police have filed a report of a violation of the Act on Supervision of Dogs and Cats and serious bodily harm.
