Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

The 48-year-old Welshman is accused, among other things, of abusing his former girlfriend and her younger sister.

Prosecutors painted an unflattering picture of the former Manchester United star when the trial opened on Monday, and the allegations against Giggs by his ex-girlfriend were just as harsh.

In the recorded testimony, the now 38-year-old woman says that she and Giggs met in 2013, and then began a relationship while she was still married, write British media.

Big Love

The woman describes Ryan Giggs as her best friend and great love but at the same time says she was naive, and that there were clear “red flags” in his behaviour.

The woman tells how she broke off the relationship in 2016 but that he then did not want to leave her and the relationship resumed after a while. It was after that, she states, that the violence took place.

At one point in 2017, she says Giggs threw her out of a hotel room naked after she accused him of infidelity. She also accuses him of hitting her and kicking her in the back.

Risks five years in prison

Ryan Giggs was arrested in November 2020, after he allegedly scalped his girlfriend. That same evening, he is said to have also used violence against her sister.

Later on Tuesday, the former girlfriend will appear before the court, but from a different room than the courtroom.

The trial is expected to last approximately two weeks. The charges against the former Manchester United star could carry a sentence of five years in prison.

The case was brought up in court for the first time in April last year and Giggs pleaded not guilty on all counts. He was then released on bail pending the trial, which has now resumed.

Giggs is seen as one of Manchester United’s best players of all time. Among other things, he won the Premier League 13 times.

The accusations from the ex-girlfriend and the upcoming trial led to his resignation as Wales captain in June.
