Giga Texas produces 240 Tesla Model Y per day

TeslaGiga tweeted to announce its progress at Texas – the team at the plant has been around since launching 20,000 Tesla Model Y succeeded in producing the car. Production did indeed start off at a slow pace in April, and by September the factory had produced 10,000 Model Ys. In the last 43 days, the same team has produced 10,000 cars per day, or 240 more cars per day. At this speed, that means more than 87,000 cars per year.

Tesla has produced 291,189 Model Ys in all its factories in the last three months. During his July earnings call, Elon Musk confirmed with Tesla’s investors that he expects to increase production at the company’s Texas facility to 1,000 vehicles per week. The Texas team seems to have exceeded expectations – 1,600 cars a week is quite the feat.

Giga Berlin is about 3 times smaller than Giga Texas and already produces 2,000 cars per week and is expected to reach an annual capacity of 250,000 cars next year.

That’s a good cause for celebration, and Tesla posted some photos of employees celebrating the success, but not everyone was happy with the results, it seems. Apparently an employee gestured to the camera – you can’t please everyone.

Tesla Model Y and Model 3 are conquering the electric car market and becoming global bestsellers, if nothing gets in the way of Tesla’s production targets, it should sell close to 800,000 Model Y and possibly more than Model 3 this year. If it manages to do so, the Model 3 will enter the top 5 of the world’s bestseller lists with the Model Y, either behind or possibly ahead of it.
