He does not have an international match – but Leksand’s Dennis Altörn is ready for the JVM in ice hockey in Canada and gets the chance at the Junior crowns.
“An unimaginable feeling,” he says.
Sweden has taken its squad to the JVM. Then it is a giant who gets the chance in the Junior crowns.
The shell to the JVM
Union captain Magnus Hävelid released the news at a press conference.
– From the November break until today, he has had fantastically good form. Injuries opened a door and the coaches let him out, and he took advantage of that, says Hävelid.
– He is a strong skater and smart both with and without the puck. He’s not afraid to get into the heat. I hope he can come in and hit from below and just “boost” us, says the national team captain further about Altörn.

Yesterday, Hävelid called around to all the players with information about the selections. He describes how Dennis Altörnto say the least, was shocked.
– I called Dennis last of all the players. He was shocked, so it was very quiet there for a while. So I tried to tell him to breathe a little. “Damn, how happy I was,” he said at the end, Hävelid tells of the phone conversation with Altörn.
Altörn himself confirms the shock at the selection as described by Hävelid.
“It is an unimaginable feeling. When I got the news I didn’t fully understand that it was real and it hasn’t actually sunk in yet. After all, the JVM is something you have sat and watched all your life and to now have the honor of representing Sweden is a dream come true,” says Dennis Altörn according to Leksand’s website.

The junior crowns took silver at home in the last championship. Now Hävelid & Co are seeking revenge in Canada.
The JVM will be played in Ottawa, December 26 to January 5.
